Relaunch: Get To Know The Blogger

I have been thinking about restarting this blog for a while now, I have several topics I want to discuss and cover. The purpose of this blog was never supposed be just Thailand and reentry and yet that's what it has become. It became a memorial to a small snippet of my life. I don't want it to stay that way, I want it to become active and engaging again. I want it to matter. While there are a list of things I want to write about; serious things, impertinent things, things that I believe in and I'm passionate about. However, for a small relaunch I wanted to do a little re-get to know me. I got these "Meet the Blogger" questions from The Tully Tales, so let's go.

What’s your Favorite Book? This is a tough one because I am an avid reader and I read so many different genres and authors. I'm going to go with Hope Was Here by Joan Bauer. It has been one of my favorites since I was in elementary school and reread it every year. I also love Anne of Green Gables, To All The Boys I've Loved Before, and anything by Ally Carter or Sarah Dessen
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Vanilla...I know I'm boring.
What’s your most embarrassing childhood memory? When I was about 6 I accidentally went into the men's restroom at a restaurant and went to the bathroom. While I was in the stall a couple of guys came in and started using the restroom. I tried to leave...I didn't understand the concept of urinal placement in the bathroom. It was mortifying.
What are your 3 Favorite Movies?
1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
2. Gifted
3. Anne of Green Gables
What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever been? Koh Samet, Thailand. It is my favorite place on earth!
What accomplishment are you most proud of? As of now I'm honestly just proud of the progress I've helped kids make at my current job. I'm a paraprofessional in an elementary school.
Who would you like to live like for a day? Beanie Feldstein because I love her and she just looks like she has such a fun life.
If you could ask your pet 3 questions, what would they be?
1. What do you do when we're not at the house?
2. Are you afraid of the dark or is it just hard to see?
3. How do you pick your human?
When you’re having a bad day, what do you do to make yourself feel better? I drive around aimlessly with the music as loud as it will go, read a book, or go for a walk.
Using one word, how would you describe your family? Passionate
Who is the kindest person you know? Sai, she is seriously the kindest, sweetest person I have ever met and I miss her face.
What is the scariest movie you’ve ever seen? The Great Mouse Detective...don't @ me. It's true.
Who’s your celebrity crush? Sebastian Stan and/or Chris Evans.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? That I haven't been, Israel.
If you could shop for free at one store, which would you choose? Any book store or Maurice's
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A dolphin trainer.
What’s your favorite day of the week? Saturday
Who would play you in a movie about your life? Beanie Feldstein
What’s the one food you could never bring yourself to eat? Liver.
What’s your pet peeve? When people use the word Nazi as a synonym for anal...it's just...let's not.

Facing Fear

Fear...fear is something we all face at some time or another. It can be small or it can be crippling. Some may face it every once in a great while and others face it every day of their lives. Fear can be brought on by accidents, people, wars, disease, governments, media consumption, and by simply being alive. I would venture to say that fear is interwoven into the fall of man, therefore it is interwoven into being human. However, to say that it's interwoven into the human experience doesn't mean that it should be; I truly believe that when God created humanity he never intended for us to be fearful creatures, in fact time and time again the Bible tells us not to fear. This is something that we did to ourselves. The second Adam and Eve messed up and everything came crashing down around them fear entered the picture and it came to stay.       Fear doesn't affect and interact with everyone the same way. Some people merely brush up against it...

Embracing Obscurity

As a Christian female in my 20s I know my Meyers-Briggs personality type (INFP), my enneagram (4w3), my love languages, and I've probably taken a spiritual gifts test. I probably take all of these tests every few months just in case my results have changed. Why? Why are we so obsessed with personality types and love languages? They so important to us that we will literally plan and center out entire lives around these results (which is rather unhealthy, but that's a post for another time). Why do we put such an emphasis on these things and purpose to weave them into our lives as tightly as possible? I would suggest that it's because we want to be known. We have a deep desire to be truly by known; to be known by our friends, our family, our co-workers, and even by ourselves. These tests give us the ability to have snippets of ourselves and our personality written out in front of us. It's something tangible that we can present to other ...

Face To Face With Heroes Of The Faith

Hi Everyone! Can you believe I've been in Thailand almost three weeks? It's been an amazing time or learning and adjusting so far. I am enjoying the immersion in a totally new culture. Being able to experience a new language, food, and practices is stretching and challenging at time and other times it's exciting and fun; often it's a mixture of all four. Even though they don't have a whole lot with this post I'm throwing in random pictures just so you can see what I've been up to with your own eyes.     There are six of us going through a month of training at Impact School of Missions in preparation for various internships across South East Asia. We have classes and training up until the end of the month; in October we all officially move on to our internships! Our month at ISM consists of classes involving classes on the culture, language, effective ways to minister and serve, culture shock/stress, learning about ourselves, and many more. We explore ...
